Mr-Glass window replacement in West Palm Beach typically runs $450 – $950 per opening installed, depending on glass package, frame condition, and whether we’re swapping the sash or the full unit. We stock Mr-Glass-compatible sashes, insulated glass units, balances, and hardware on our trucks, so most replacements happen in a single visit. The way owners usually find us: a window that’s suddenly fogged between the panes, a sash that drops when you let go of it, or a frame that no longer locks square after a few years of Florida humidity and afternoon storms.
We’re an independent West Palm Beach window company, not a Mr-Glass dealer. That matters because we’re not tied to a catalog. If a Mr-Glass part is discontinued or backordered, we can usually match the glass and hardware specs with a quality equivalent that fits the existing frame, often for less than the OEM line item.
Which Mr-Glass Models This Applies To
Mr-Glass built aluminum and vinyl windows in a few distinct series, each with different glass thickness and balance specs. The most common ones we see in West Palm Beach homes are the single-hung and horizontal slider units from their 600 and 800 series lines, plus a smaller number of fixed picture windows. The identification sticker is your fastest route to a correct match, and it’s worth knowing where to look before you call. On a single-hung, the sticker is usually on the top edge of the sash or the inside of the frame track. On a slider, check the side rail. The sticker will show the series number, glass thickness code, and sometimes the manufacturing date.
One compatibility gotcha we run into often in older West Palm Beach neighborhoods like El Cid and Flamingo Park: the 600 series used a 3/4″ insulated glass unit, while the 800 series moved to a 7/8″ double-strength unit. They look nearly identical from the outside, but the wrong glass thickness won’t seat properly in the glazing channel and the sash won’t balance. We measure before we order anything, always. OEM Mr-Glass parts are still available for many 800 series models, but for the older 600 series, we often recommend a quality aftermarket IGU or replacement sash because the OEM supply has thinned out and the aftermarket glass in a Low-E package actually outperforms the original clear glass in Florida sun.
Styles & brands we work with

Signs Your Mr-Glass Window Replacement Is Failing
- Fog or haze between the panes. The seal on the insulated glass unit has failed, and Florida’s humidity has entered the air space. Once moisture shows, the argon or krypton fill is gone and the glass’s insulating value is gone with it.
- A sash that won’t stay up or slides down on its own. The constant tension from the balance system has given out, which is common after years of salt air and heat cycling. This is a balance replacement or a new sash, not a window cleaning issue.
- Water or staining at the sill or lower corners. The drainage weeps on older Mr-Glass aluminum frames clog with sand and debris in West Palm Beach, then water backs up into the track and finds the wall cavity. If you see paint bubbling below the window, the leak has been working for a while.
- Drafts you can feel with the back of your hand along the frame or meeting rail. The nylon pile weatherstripping on Mr-Glass sashes compresses and mats down over time. Replacement weatherstripping is cheap and we stock it, but a loose meeting rail can also mean the sash is racked.
- Hard cranking, sticking, or a lock that no longer lines up. Aluminum frames flex, especially on west-facing walls that bake every afternoon. When the frame is out of square, the lock keeper and latch stop aligning, and the operator gets stiff. Sometimes it’s a keeper adjustment; sometimes the sash frame has to be replaced.
Replacement Cost & What’s Included
For a straight sash or glass replacement in a Mr-Glass frame, most West Palm Beach jobs land between $450 and $950 per opening. A full-frame replacement, which we recommend only when the original frame is corroded or the rough opening needs reframing, runs higher and we’ll quote that in writing before any work starts. Here’s the line-item breakdown we give every customer:
- Glass only (insulated unit, Low-E, matching tint): $225 – $420 installed
- Replacement sash (glass + sash frame, single-hung): $380 – $650 installed
- Replacement sash (slider half): $340 – $550 installed
- Balance replacement (per sash, both sides): $90 – $140 installed
- Weatherstripping + hardware tune-up per window: $60 – $110
- Full-frame replacement window (Mr-Glass match or equivalent): $750 – $1,400 installed
The price covers the part, the labor, the haul-away of the old sash or glass, and a written confirmation of what was done. If we open the wall and find rot or a cracked rough opening, we stop, show you a photo, and give you a new number before we touch anything else. No change orders happen quietly.

AfterDIY or Call Us?
There are a few things a careful homeowner can do without much risk. You can check the ID sticker and read the series number to us over the phone. You can clean the weep holes at the bottom of the frame with a pipe cleaner or compressed air. You can inspect the weatherstripping and tell us whether it’s flattened or missing in sections. What you should not try alone is removing an aluminum sash with a balance system still under tension. Mr-Glass sashes are light, but the spiral balances carry enough stored force to cut a hand or send the sash into the frame if released wrong. Replacing an IGU also means handling a 20 to 30 pound glass unit at arm’s length. We do this every week. If you’d rather a trained pair of hands take it from measurement to finished install, call (728) 203-1160 and we’ll schedule the estimate.
Are Mr-Glass Windows Still Covered by Warranty in Florida?
Some Mr-Glass window lines carried a glass warranty up to 20 years, but the fine print usually excludes seal failure from coastal humidity, which means most West Palm Beach owners end up paying out of pocket for the replacement. If you have the original paperwork, check the glass warranty date and whether the seal is covered, then call us with the window’s measurements and sticker info. We can often tell you in one call whether a warranty claim is worth pursuing or whether a replacement sash is the faster and cleaner path.
FAQs
In this climate, the insulated glass seal on a Mr-Glass window usually gives out between 10 and 15 years, and the hardware often starts showing wear around year 12. Sashes can last 20 or more if the frame was kept clean and the weep holes never clogged. Salt air near the intracoastal accelerates all of it.
No. Once the seal between the panes fails, moisture and contaminants get in and the inert gas fill is gone. There’s no reliable field repair for a failed IGU seal. The long-term fix is a new insulated glass unit or replacement sash. Call (728) 203-1160 and we’ll confirm whether it’s glass-only or sash replacement.
For a sash or glass swap we usually finish in one to two hours per window. If we’re replacing multiple windows or doing full-frame work, we’ll give you a clear schedule before the job starts and stick to it.
We stock common Mr-Glass balances, weatherstripping, locks, and glass specs for the 600 and 800 series on our trucks. Less common parts we order to spec, and we’ll tell you the lead time up front so you’re never waiting on a surprise. If you also own PGT, CGI, or CWS windows, we stock compatible parts for those too.
